Clean hidden data out of Word documents
See the names, comments, tracked changes and hidden characters inside a .docx, then download a clean copy that opens in Word as usual.
Free to start · No card needed · Files never leave your device
What a Word file gives away
Every .docx records who wrote it, who edited it last, your company name, how long it was open, and the path to the template on your computer, which often includes your user name. Comments and tracked changes keep reviewer names, and deleted text stays in the file until changes are accepted.
What this tool removes
Author, editor and company details, custom properties, the template path, comments, revision IDs and invisible characters such as zero-width spaces. You can also accept all tracked changes so deleted text is gone for good. Text, formatting and images are left alone.

Questions
What hidden information is in a Word document?+
Word saves the author's name, the name of whoever last edited it, the company, the template path (which often contains your computer user name), total editing time, revision IDs added on every save, comments with reviewer names, and tracked changes including text that was deleted but is still in the file.
Will the cleaned file still open in Word?+
Yes. Only the metadata parts and markers are removed. The text, formatting, images, tables and styles stay as they were, and the file opens in Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice.
What does accepting tracked changes do?+
Insertions become normal text and deletions are removed for good, the same as clicking Accept All Changes in Word. Leave it off if you still need to review the changes. Their author names are replaced with "Author" either way.
Does it work with old .doc files?+
No, only .docx. Open the .doc in Word and choose File, Save As, Word Document (.docx), then clean that copy.
Are my files uploaded?+
No. The tool runs inside your browser tab and reads the file from your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, which is also why it works quickly on big files.
Is it free?+
Yes. Free covers 5 files a day up to 30 MB each, one at a time. Pro is $7 a month and removes the daily limit and the size cap, and lets you drop in whole batches.
